maddie — san francisco portraits

maci britt November 13, 2024

At this point it’s possible that Maddie has spent more time in front of my camera than anyone else. For this shoot, she danced on her rooftop and we explored her new neighborhood. I’m obsessed with what we got ✨

triple entendre @ waystone sf

maci britt July 5, 2024

Summer of Music SF partners musicians with local businesses for little concerts all across the city every weekend. It’s a great way to enjoy live music and support small businesses at the same time ✨ Last year I got to photograph five shows for my friend’s band, Triple Entendre, and I was happy to also photograph their first show of 2024 a couple of weekends ago!

chris & janae — bernal heights engagement

maci britt May 3, 2024

From living with Janae for a couple of years through her book launch & graduation to being Chris’s unofficial official band photographer last summer, they might be the two friends I’ve photographed the most. Getting to take these engagement photos for them was a highlight! 😍

doors and tiles of lisbon

Lisbon is so bright & colorful, and a big contributor to that are the azulejos—glazed ceramic tiles—found all over the city 💙

yes, chef

maci britt March 29, 2024

This year I’m trying to get more art on our apartment walls, something which I am historically very bad at. When I thought about this blank space above our sink, I knew I wanted some nod to The Bear and I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out :)

website redesign for la mo cafe & restaurant

maci britt September 14, 2023

Earlier this year I set out to redesign La Mo’s website, which I had initially created nearly 8 (!!) years ago. Needless to say, it was looking dated.

maci britt January 5, 2023

If you had told me just two years ago that I’d be getting married in 2023, I would not have believed you. But here we are. A mere 58 days away from our wedding. (😱)

Maria Enomoto glass at Sabah House San Francisco

maria enomoto glass x sabah house san francisco

maci britt July 23, 2022

My friend Maria Enomoto makes the most colorful, whimsical glass objects—everything from bowls, to cups, to cake stands, and more. (She’s even made exclusive pieces for Food52!) Now her beautiful work is on display in the bright and homey interior of Sabah House for a week-long residency. Colorful glass & colorful shoes… it’s a fun pairing.

If you’re local to SF, make sure to stop by! And if not, enjoy the photos I had the pleasure of taking for Maria :)

hiking san francisco's 17-mile crosstown trail

maci britt July 2, 2022

40mm scenes from across the city.

The Crosstown Trail in San Francisco takes you across the city diagonally from the southeast corner at Candlestick Point to the northwest corner at Lands End. Depending on how fast you hike and how many times you stop (don’t skip Mission Blue for coffee in Visitacion Valley!), it takes around 7 hours to complete the whole thing in one go.

It’s a great way to see parts of the city you might not usually have reason to visit, and there is no shortage of amazing views along the way.

A year ago, a boy invited me to hike the Crosstown Trail. I agreed. We spent twelve hours together that day—a truly epic first date.

graduation photos — janae 👩‍🎓

maci britt May 18, 2022

My lovely roommate, Janae, graduated from Dominican University this past weekend with her Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy and Art Therapy! 🥳

We’ve been roommates for one year so I’ve had a front row seat to her final year of grad school. She has worked so hard—attending online & in-person classes, working as an art therapist trainee at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, and writing a book. Seriously superwoman. She is a ray of light and the kindest soul. It is a privilege to be her friend and housemate!

Taking her photos was so much fun—we didn’t let 20mph winds at Ocean Beach stop us 🙃

62 hours in joshua tree

maci britt January 8, 2022

For the past 6 years, I’ve taken an annual girls’ trip with two of my best friends. Usually we go to LA, but this year we kicked off 2022 with a few days in Joshua Tree. A very different kind of trip for us, but we had such a good time :)

We stayed at The Joshua Tree House and spent most of our time there.

Our favorite place to get breakfast was Natural Sisters, and our favorite grab-and-go lunch spot was The Dez. For coffee, we liked Joshua Tree Coffee Company (but good luck getting a decent cappuccino in this town—when I ordered one, I received the dreaded Small, medium, or large? question and quickly changed my order lol)

the joshua tree house

maci britt January 8, 2022

After years of having The Joshua Tree House on my radar, following it on Instagram, and seeing friends stay there, I finally got to stay in it myself! This home was the perfect place to begin the year on an ultra-relaxed note. Every room was filled with thoughtful details and the space was so inviting that we were content to spend the majority of our days inside, or on the front porch, or in the hot tub :)

scenes from twin peaks

maci britt October 5, 2021

“Above all, San Francisco’s weather is a feast for the eyes. This is a city of famously clear light, but it is also one of a thousand exquisite shadings, of every possible combination of sun and clouds and warmth and coolness, mist and fog and wind and brightness and darkness. The San Francisco sky is a vast canvas, painted by the ever-changing sea. Those of us who live here take stupendous sights for granted because they happen so often: mighty banks of fog breaking like slow-motion waves over Twin Peaks, skies of cool translucent pearl clouded by evanescent washes of silvery mist, sunbeams landing on random spots in the city like the annunciation in a medieval painting, winter mornings of such crystalline clarity that the whole city looks like an icicle-covered branch, the twin towers of the Golden Gate Bridge rising up above a billowing sea of thick white clouds.”

—Gary Kamiya
